Pennsylvania Real Estate License Renewal Credits
All Pennsylvania real estate licensees (salesperson, associate broker, broker) must renew their license every two years. The current renewal period began June 1, 2018 and ends May 31, 2020. The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission requires all real estate licensees (including brokers and associate brokers) to complete 14 hours of education each renewal period. NOTE: For the current renewal period, the Commission is requiring that 1.5 hours of the required 14 hours must be in the topic of Property Management and 2 hours must be in the topic of Advertising. The other 10.5 hours can be completed in elective topics.
For most licensees, there is a requirement for 1.5 hours in Property Management and 2 hours in Advertising plus the 10.5 hours in elective topics approved by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission, will total the necessary 14 hours needed for renewal prior to May 31, 2020. Exceptions are listed below:
- *Notice for Recent Licensees* The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission has developed 14 required hours of mandatory continuing education course content for all licensees in their first renewal cycle. This provision affects anyone licensed on or after December 1, 2017. The mandatory course must be completed by May 31, 2020. The Association of REALTORS® School offers this required course in the classroom and online. These licensees are exempt from the required hours in Property Management and Advertising.
- *New or reactivated Pennsylvania Licensees* – INITIAL RENEWAL PERIOD ONLY – If the first license was issued in the last six months of the 18-20 renewal period (December 1, 2019 – May 31, 2020), the licensee does NOT have to complete continuing education. However, the licensee must complete the renewal application and pay the appropriate fees to the Real Estate Commission.
If you have questions about the requirements for renewing a real estate license, please contact Paula Tansey at email@example.com or call 610-560-4900.
